So I was given the opportunity to be a volunteer for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The house that we are building is for a family of 5. They have three very young children all names ending in "ious". They are Greek, so all of the kids have Greek names. This opportunity has opened up my eyes to the needy families around my community. The program is not a program that just gives. The family has to volunteer 100 hours on other houses, to be even approved to get their own house, they call it sweat equity. But they also have a mortgage of $60,000, which is not too bad. I am so excited to be learning new skills. Here are some pictures of Val and I at work.
