Oh, I forgot to mention, I decided to stay at Kingston and go to school at night. They came to me and asked me what it would take for me not to leave at the end of July. I told them and guess what, they gave me what I wanted. I will have a new position with more money. Yeah for us. So wait for more to come of that.

The Shamoon family came from Michigan for a little family vacation. Chris and I went to the local zoo. We have gone to the zoo before, but it is so much more fun to go with little kids. We had a great time watching the kids reaction to the animals. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Stephanie (Chris' baby sister) got married to Nathan B. (can't remember his last name, it is french so that is my excuse.) Deet got married in the backyard of her mom's house, and was supported by all those who love her. She had a beautiful wedding gown on and looked like a princess. Nathan is a lucky guy to have her. We are so happy for the two of them.
(I don't have pictures, only video, and I can't get it to upload, so just use your imagination.)

Saturday Chris and I worked on the farm. We spent a couple of hours of the morning burning ditches, getting them ready for the irrigation water. After we were finished, we headed back to the farm to help with branding the spring calves. Chris' job was to mark the cows that had calves so we could tell which cows were not producing anymore and get them ready to go to the sale. Chris was doing a great job until he marked my arm with this old greasy chalk stick. He said he was just making sure I didn't go to the sale too, and that I was safe from the farmers.

Memorial Day Weekend May 24th - May 25th
Memorial weekend was a very weekend for me. I was able to play cowgirl and farmer. My dad will be so jealous. Hehehe. Friday night I went down with Val to her family ranch. Saturday they were going to bring the cattle out of hills and brand them, so I went with her. I could resist the opportunity to ride a horse and be outside in their gorgeous area. Saturday we woke up and had an amazing ranch breakfast. Around 10:30 we rounded up the horses and saddled them up, to get ready for the cattle drive. Val and I along with 5 other cowboy/cowgirls loaded up on the horses and took off for the cattle. We split the group up into two groups and we round around the cows to gather them. It was so much fun, they put me on a very athletic horse. He was incredible to ride, he turned at my ever will and we were able to bring the cows in with out any problems. I actually had a couple of opportunities to cut the cattle. Making sure they didn't take off the other direction. It was a blast, I love doing stuff like that. After we had the cattle brought into the pens, we shorted the calves from the moms and started the branding part. It was my job to tag them, while the other guys branded, castrated, and immunized them. It was so much fun to be out doors, pretending to be a real cowgirl... Giddy UP. We were able to do all of the cattle we brought in from the meadows (about 150 calves), but we still had to get the cattle out of hills. But due to rain it was postponed to Monday. After that was finished I had to take off for home to help Chris. Well I didn't have to, but I wanted to spend time with him..
Monday Chris and I woke up to the sound of planes flying over and dogs barking. We had the local crop dusters dusting the field above our house. They entertained us a while, while we worked on the fencing around the farm and also burning the ditches. We spent the whole day working on the farm doing little jobs. It rained the whole day we were working but it was really nice to work with John. He is a great man. We had a great productive weekend.

May 30th
Friday May 30th, I had the opportunity to throw a surprise baby shower for my friend/co-worker Michele, right in our office. I was able to contact her sister and invite her to the bash. It turned out great, we surprised her twice. Once by having the shower but then also by getting her sister to come. She could not figure out how we got a hold of her sister. I am really sneaky.. Heheheh. We had food and lots of gifts for her. It was a great time.

May 31st
Friday after work Chris and I headed up to Avery Acres to work on the fence to make sure it is ready for the cows to come up in the next couple of weeks. Plus it was a great way to make a few extra bucks, and work on my tan/burn for the summer. Right now I look like a freshly steamed lobster.....
We decided to head up the hill and saw that the snow drift right above the cabin was still really high, almost 20 ft. So we (Chris, Conan, Buddy and I) decided to hike down on to it, it would be a great way to cool off our fat, furry friends Conan & Buddy. Chris was the first to head down. I could tell that it was a little slippery from the recent melting so I told him to be careful. As soon as I said that, I saw Buddy in the corner of my eye, sliding down. He couldn't stop. He got all of the way to the end of the glacier/drift and off the side he went. All I could see was his front paws clinging to the side and his head trying to peak over. He was able to stop and pull himself up, but after that he didn't dare move. He was much more careful. I knew that if he had fallen he would have been ok, due to the drop was only about 15 - 20 feet and it was a gradual slope, not a drop off.
Here is a couple of shots of the weekend

Man, you've been busy! Sounds like you've been having fun too. :)
Wow! That does seem like such a busy and productive month! I, too, love doing farmwork! I think it's so fun to be with family just working all together. We go to Greenville every spring and fall to help round up, brand, immunize, and castrate cattle. Last fall I ended up face planting in a gianormous pile of manuer when I was charged by an out of control steer. It took all 7 of us and about an hour to get that one where he needed to be. He was WILD! Idaho looks so beautiful and green right now. I feel like I want to go to yellowstone really bad!
