Chris' oldest brother and his family made an unexpected trip from Austin TX to Idaho, so Tuesday July 7th,Chris, Mekelle and I had the great opportunity to join their family, along with John, Cheryl and Grandma Avery on a trip to Mesa Falls and Big Springs in Island park. We spent the day BBQing, sight seeing and even found ourselves down the Buffalo River in Island park in air rafts and tubes. The water adventure is one we will never forget. The water was frigid, the wind was blowing (of course) and the raft Kerri, Grandma and I were in was losing air. We spent several hours floating down, trying to avoid sandbars in shallow water, paddling down the river when the wind was blowing us up stream, and of course trying to avoid debris in the water, but after about the 4th hour we had had enough, we wanted dry land. So about 1 mile left to go, we got out and walked our way to the beach and made Mark and Chris go retrieve the cars, while we took care of the kids. After the cars came to our rescue, we were all laughing at our little adventure, and swore up and down that we will never do that again. Following the floating mishap, we headed down to Big Judds to enjoy the biggest hamburger in Idaho. 2 hamburgers were enough to feed our crew, if that gives you any idea on the size. Although our rafting trip wasn't what we anticipated, we had a great day. We were able to enjoy what is the most important.

Upper Mesa Falls
Our crew at the falls.
Big Springs and the wildlife around us.
(We had the great opportunity to see a bald eagle while loading in our rafts, it was a great treat for the nieces from TX.)
