Grand Canyon (Sunday August 22, 2010)

Grand Canyon

Since I have been married, I have always promised Chris that I would take him to the Grand Canyon. We finally had time to make the trip down.

As we drove, I was amazed as well as Brooklyn and Chris at how beautiful it was. I had forgotten about the forest of ponderosa pines and blue spruces, since I had not been there since I was 12 or something. Chris was imaging the south rim, which is very dry and desert like, so he was so excited to be about 8000 feet, in a beautiful pine forest with the temps a meager 72 degrees. We spent a few hours hiking the main trails, and spent another hour eating lunch at their restaurant. Chris loved the experience, though he is deathly afraid of heights, but he would love to go back again.

I wish we had thistles this beautiful.

Chris being petrified of heights.
There was a point were he got light headed because of the drops around the trail we were on.

I just had to get a picture of him with this donkey.

When I was about her age, my parents took us to the Grand Canyon. They let us pick something out at the gift shop and I picked a unicorn pendant that had turquoise in it. I loved that my dad allowed me to get something a little more expensive and I wore it for years. The pendant broke off it's chain but I still have it. So I wanted to let Brooklyn have something beautiful from such a beautiful place.
Her beautiful necklace.
