After church Chris and I took a drive to our local reservoir to see how full it was and why they have such a concern for our local valley. Ririe reservoir is just above our house and is the reservoir that feeds the Willow Creek. The reservoir is at 95 % capacity and they are expecting water to be drained into it with the rising temps. They have been pumping a ton of water out but it is coming in as fast as it is going out. The local officials knew there was going to be a problem back in February and had sent some water out, but they didn't clean out the canals first and this caused severe ice jams and flooded a couple of farmers. They got it cleaned up and then they didn't send out any more water until the end of April. So it was a huge waste of money and complete mismanagement and now there is a great possibility that Willow Creek area will be flooded.
Ririe Reservoir in the far background is the flood gates. They have never been opened, but this might be the year. We hope not, but it is still a reality that we will all have to face with the warmer temps.

Falls from Fall Creek
Chris, Maggie and I would go to these falls every summer and hike down the terace to the bottom. There we would allow the warm water fall into a make shift pool. It was a great way to cool off on those hot summer days. I don't think it will be hiked down for a while, if ever this year.
