Happy 1st Birthday!
We were so bless to celebrate Lucas' 1st year with a lot of family and friends. With his birthday falling on the weekend of Labor Day, we celebrated the whole weekend, starting on Thursday. But on his birthday which fell on a Wednesday, I had to work while Chris took care of the birthday boy, and was very thoughtful to send me this sweet picture of my darling boy on his Birthday minute of 1:48pm. Oh how much I wished I could be at home with him.

Eating spaghetti for lunch. It is his favorite! |
Grandma and Grandpa Cornwell, Uncle Dave, Aunt Andrea and Kyler, and Aunt Mekelle with her two boys Kade and Cole arrived on Thursday. Mekelle drove from North Dakota and everyone else flew in from St. George. We spent the afternoon just hanging around the farm and we did have a tragedy. Mekelle's dog Harley was hit and killed by a car so we spent the majority of the late afternoon taking care of the dog and consoling Mekelle. We felt horrible and so didn't want our weekend to start off this way.
Friday- Grandma and Grandpa Cornwell, Uncle Dave, Aunt Andrea and Kyler, Aunt Mekelle with her two boys Kade and Cole and Chris and I with the birthday boy headed out to the Idaho Falls Zoo. It was a day that was well spent looking at all of the monkeys with our little monkeys. They thoroughly enjoyed it and what I love about our zoo is that it is not too big. Just the right size that the parent and the kidlets didn't get bored. We saw lions, tigers, zebra, the snow leopard, kangaroos and much much more, but the boys really enjoyed the monkeys. We spent several minutes watching each one.
Sitting back and relaxing as he is pushed to see all of the animals. |
Dave, Andrea and cute Kyler (I love this little family) |
Kyler being shy from the camera (Grandpa showed him how to cover his face when someone was trying to take his picture, that naughty grandpa) |
Bestest Buddies watching the monkey swing They have dearly missed each other since Kade move to ND.

As we were traveling down Rachel and her family decided to come up for the festivities. We were so glad that they were going to join us, plus she was bringing Kelle a puppy a brand new brindle boxer Kelle found in UT. Mom stayed behind and started the birthday cake, which I was so grateful for. I wanted to make his cake but I didn't want to miss out on his first trip to the county fair. Mom allowed me to do both. She is great help whenever it is needed.
The little kids loved seeing all of the animals. They got to touch rabbits, cows, goats, miniature horses and even got to go on a pony ride, but that is not what they loved the most. They loved the old tractors.

First of many tractor pictures. He loves them. Good thing he is getting a tractor cake. |
I'm ready to drive, now how can I reach the wheel and gas pedal at the same time. |
Grandpa and his boys (Just missing Kaleb and Hayden) |
Tractor buddies (one will work the wheel and shift the gears, while the other works the clutch and brake) |
Oh I love them. |
Every kid has to have a Culligan water feather. |
This guy was humungous but ever so gentle. |
Pony rides! Luke and Cole were still too small, maybe next year. |
PARTY TIME!
After the fair we all went back to the house and Rachel and her clan were there. We were so excited to have a mini reunion with the family, we only missed Maggie and Ron's family and Gene. But we were so glad the cousins could play together and have fun. While I got the BBQ started, thankfully I had most of the prep work done, it was just cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs, the family members mingled. We had a great turn out. Great-Grandma Avery, Grandpa John and Grandma Cheryl, Fred Erickson, Justin and his two brothers Jackson and Jayden, Chuck and Meagan, Grandma Betty and Grandpa Darwin, Great-Grandma Bird and Brandon Bird, then of course we had my family. So it was a great turn out. We ate hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, fresh fruit and much more. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I think he liked his dinner. |
Oh how cute is my baby boy. |
After we ate, it was time to break out the cake and give Lucas his first cupcake. I could not have gotten this cute cake done if it were not for my mom. She had it baked, icing made and outlined, while I was at the fair with the family. I just had to color in the lines. Ever since I was little, I wanted to do this for my kids cause my mom did it for me and I love those cakes. I know they were expensive and hard work to do, but I knew that she loved me and loved doing them for us. She is so talented.
Showing Lucas his cake. |
He is always sharing his food, even his birthday cupcake. |
Now its momma's time to have a bite. |
I don't think I had think I had this much cake in my face on my wedding day. |
Oh how we love him. |
