Chris and I just got back from another Jazz game. For Christmas Chris and I decided to buy 2 tickets with really good seats than to buy several tickets with horrible seats. So we were able to find really great seats on row 3, right behind the Jazz bench. (You know you have great seats when you have to tell the coach to sit down, because you can't see. Yeah I told Coach Sloan to sit down, but of course he didn't care. I just thought it was funny.)
Chris and I were enjoying the first quarter of the game when we were distracted by this elderly couple walking in, they had security all around them, and to our surprise we saw that it was President Monson and his wife. They walked right past us and sat 12 seats away from us. We were so excited that the Prophet was there watching the game. Everyone around us started to get their picture phones out to take pictures of him. We tried to take a picture of them, but for some reason our camera jammed and so we thought, well maybe we are not supposed to take a picture, but we tried again and this time it worked.
President Monson left at half time to get some refreshments or something and during the 3rd quarter timeout, he came back in and patted Jerry Sloan (coach) on the back and told him that he was doing a great job. Jerry and the rest of the players were shocked. Most if not all didn't know who he was until after the game and somebody told them. It was classic to see Jerry's reaction to the interruption during his timeout.... Check the video out, you can tell that Jerry was a little surprised.
After the game Monson got swarmed by the fans, this is usually done to the players but not this game, not this time. President Monson spent the next 1/2 hour shaking the fans hands. While Chris was getting pictures of him, I made my way over to him and shook his hand. It was amazing. His handshake was firm but soft, you could tell he has shook a lot of hands in his day.
Chris and I could feel the reverence in the stadium after the game, we knew then and there that he was the Prophet of God and that he holds the highest position on earth, he is the highest of the High Priest. We had an amazing experience, one that I will never forget. Here Chris and I go down just to have fun at the Jazz game and in the mean time have one of the greatest spiritual experiences in our life, one that surpasses the excitement I had to be so close to the players of the Jazz. This is a game that I will never forget.
After the game Chris and I met up with our friends Robb and Kim Crockett (they also love the Jazz )and went to dinner at the Skye Box. It was a great time and we can't wait to do it again. Go Jazz!
Watch carefully to see Coach Sloan's reaction after he gets patted by President Monson and told that he is doing a good job. (I love it)

WOW!!! That is so amazing how your lives randomly crossed paths with the Prophet. I probably would have just watched him the rest of the game.
