3rd Annual Cornwell Reunion (June 12 -14)

June 12 - 14 was the 3rd annual Cornwell reunion. This year Chris and I were in charge of the planning, so we decided to have the fam come up to Avery Acres. The family arrived Friday afternoon and to my surprise Dad was able to come too. Rachel and her little family were not able to make it due to being really sick. We sure missed them. Anyway, we were able to do the most of our plans even though it rained the majority of the weekend.
Friday
Friday night Chris and I were in charge of dinner so we made tin-dins for supper in the over because it was raining. After supper we played games and watched 21 the movie.
Saturday
We all got up fairly early on Saturday, so we made a big breakfast. We ate pancakes (made especially for Moogly (Maggie)), french toast and bacon. After breakfast we noticed that it was nice outside so the boys decided to go golfing while us girls stay in the cabin and made journals out of composition notebooks. It was fun to see everyone own personality come through to their books. They all turned out so cute. The guys arrived back from golfing just before it started to rain again. They had perfect timing. Maggie, Ron and Kelle were in responsible for lunch so they made us bean and rice burritos They were really good to eat but they turned out to be deadly later on in the day, if you know what I mean. After lunch Dave, Andrea, Dad, Chris, Kelle and Ron headed out to play horseshoes. Mom, Maggie and I headed out for a tour of the grounds out on the quad. We had so much fun. The wildflowers were incredible. There were flowers there that I have never seen, and I think it is due to all of the rain we have received the past couple of weeks. We even got to a patch of land, where cows were grazing and mom called out to them and they started to follow us because of her. She is one with the cows, I guess.. After our ride we got another huge storm. It was coming down in sheets. Chris and I were in awe with the amount of water coming down the creek. It was 20 times its normal size. We were experiencing a flash flood. We estimated that it rained about 2 inch in just a couple of hours. To occupy our time during this storm we broke out the family favorite, SCUM. We love this game, I don't have a clue why but every time we get together it is played. After our game of scum the sun finally came out again so we headed outside once more to start cooking dutch oven and to get a game of kickball going. We lined up bases and started the competitive game, Girls vs Boys. We had a great time, us girls were holding our own until the last inning. I am not sure what happened, it was like the guys finally remember how to play but they got 10 runs in the last inning. We were last up, and we did our best to catch up, but we were not able too. (Kelle has video of the game, so hopefully she will update her blog soon.) Dinner was finished and we were so glad to sit down after such an aggressive game of kickball. (Cornwell's should not play games, we get way too into it.) Dad and mom provided dutch oven ribs, potatoes and chicken to the delight of their children, especially me (I don't get it nearly as much as the rest of the kids). Dad's ribs were incredible, he made the bbq sauce perfectly, it stuck right to the pieces of meat. Well it was all incredible. I love his dutch oven. Saturday night was a blast. We played more games. We played psychiatrist and signs. The whole family was belly rolling at several points of both games. We stayed up pretty late, we wanted to make sure we took advantage of the minimal time we had together, and I feel we did.
Sunday
Sunday we all slept in as much as we could, but after we were up, we were pretty busy. We had breakfast, we cleaned up and got our stuff loaded and ready to leave. within a couple of hours. We were able to get off the mountain before another storm hit us. This allowed the roads to be pretty dry compared to what they were when they came up.It was sad to see how fast our little weekend went, but I was so excited that we were able to do as much as we did with the weather conditions. I feel so lucky to have a family that loves to get together. We always seem to have so much fun, no matter what. I am so thankful that they were willing to drive so far for just a few days. I can't wait for next years.

Here are a few pictures of the activities we did. I didn't get many but between Kelle, Andrea and Maggie, this weekend is well documented.
