Girls weekend with Dave and Dad

This past weekend, I had the great opportunity to head down to what was supposed to be a sun filled weekend in St. George with my parents, Dave and Andrea, & Maggie. Oh I need to mention that we took Bella my dog and my cat Yoda with me. (Yoda was going to be a perminant resident of the Cornwell family in St. George)

Thursday we were supposed to head down, but my car broke down on Malad pass, which was only 1 1/2 hours into the trip. So Maggie and I spent the evening waiting for the tow truck. It took about 2 hours by the time the car quit to the time the tow guy showed up. While we were waiting Maggie and I both had to use the restroom, but we were out in the middle of nowhere. So we opened both passenger side doors and made our own little latrine. I have not had to do that for I don't know how long. (Maggie has a picture of us patiently waiting for the tow truck, so hopefully she posts it on her blog. Actually she is only one with picture of the weekend, so she better get busy and do a post)

The tow truck picked us up, we stayed at Maggie's grandparents house, and they let us borrow a car from their dealership, and they took a look at my car. Which is officially dead, now. The main contributor was that the water pump wasn't working and burned up the motor, fun right. She is truly blessed to have been married into such a great family, to allow a complete stranger (me) to stay in their house and drive one of their cars.

Friday morning, we headed out and made our way down to St. George. The weather was fantastic the first day. We made our way to my parents church where Dave and dad were busy making dutch oven chicken for their ward's Blue and Gold Banquette. It was fun to sit and eat dinner with my parents and Maggie's in-laws.

Saturday was raining so we spent the morning lounging around the house but at noon we went to lunch with Dave, Andrea and Grandma at the Riverwalk Grill in Bloomington. It was good, but service was slow. Following lunch we headed out to do some shopping. Not the shopping you would expect most girls to do, but we went to Lowes, Best Buy, Home Depot and Petsmart. We had a blast sitting in the new summer patio furniture while we gabbed. It sounds boring but it so was not. We had a great time. We ended the night having dinner with Dad.

Sunday was typical, we went to church and ate dinner with Dave and Andrea. Mom fixed a fabulous meal, as always.

On Monday, we had breakfast and cleaned the house. Following that we met with dad/Dave and Andrea for lunch at the Frost-top. We needed a fast lunch, and that totally brought back memories of high school. Monday afternoon Magg and I headed to Provo to spend some time with Mekelle and Rachel's little family.

As you can tell, I had a great relaxing weekend, were I was able to just spend good quality time with my family. I really miss them, being so far away from my hometown, but I was anxious to see my hubby and I know Ron really missed Maggie. I love little getaway trips...

Hi Stephaninnie---Yeah when did you chuck the "ole" cake. I was so sad when you car died...not just because it meant a bill in buying a new one, but so sad that my little ones would not probably make it down. I literally ran out of work Friday nite, the ripples of excitement waving over my expectations. I love you so much...my little Nel- Thank you for being my wind....The mostest Mom
