Exhausted

Saturday, we woke up expecting to brand the cattle, but because of the amount of moisture we have received over the past week and the lack of warm weather we went to get things set up and the top dry crusty soil broke through to reveal a sloppy underground and one of the helpers was injuried in an accident with his mules. So needless to say, we didn't brand the stinkin' cows. but Chris and I stayed busy for the rest of the day. We were outside from 10 am to 9:30 since it was the only nice Saturday we have had since Easter. So we mowed the lawn (Chris spent 4 hours on the lawn mower, he did ours, our old lawn and his dad's lawn), weeded some of the flower beds, planted some bulbs (Thanks Val, I can't wait for them to come up), cleaned up the sidewalk, cut some shelves with my new handy circular saw (I love having my own power tools) for one of my kitchen cupboards. I even help John set up the new branding table. I guess the brand has to be on a particular side of the animal and the table was set up for the brand to be on the left side of the cow, but we needed it to be on the right. John thought he could reverse it, but after taking off some of the pieces, he was lost in what was supposed to be where and I was able to reverse it and put it back together for him. He said he was impressed and didn't think he would have gotten it back together himself, and that flattered me. I knew standing around watching my mom and dad do their projects would do me some good. I learned a lot by just watching. Totally reminds me of the time when my dad built a new fence and my mom one evening came out and rerouted the sprinklers to make them work with the new fence line. I knew she could do it because I had seen her to that kind of stuff all of the time, but our neighbor watched her for a good hour seeing if she was doing it right and was quite astonished when she turned them on and they were perfect. I don't think he ever questioned her abilities after that.

So Saturday was a good day, now if we could get more days like that. I might be able to finish the rest of the flower beds and get the branding done so we can take them up to the hills.

We are exhaused but it was a great day!!!

Picture of the new shelves in my cupboard.
I chose to go white since, in the near future, my cupboards will be going that color.

Here are my puppies and kitties watching me sweep and scrap the sidewalk. The way they are laying around, you would have thought they spent all day working.

Cute Animals.
