Road Trip
A couple of weekends ago Chris , John (Chris' Dad) and I took a little road trip to Northern Idaho/Washington. John had a couple of seminars up at U of I on bankruptcies and he also had to meet a client, so Chris thought he would take advantage of a free ride and have us both go with him to check out the campus of University of Idaho, just in case we go to law school there. We left on Wednesday afternoon and drove up through Missoula Mt to Coalville Wa. It was a gorgeous drive through the mountains. They were covered with a ton of snow. We made a pit stop at the Coeur d'Alene resort and walked around the marina to stretch our legs out. It was incredibly beautiful, but incredibly cold. After we walked about a mile we decided to get some dinner. John took us to a great restaurant called The Cedars. It is a floating seafood restaurant with a great atmosphere. We ate like little pigs. The food was incredible and the restaurant had a great view of the lake. After dinner we decided to keep going to our next destination, but we didn't get to far when I noticed that I would have to go back to the restaurant because I left my purse under the table. I hate when I do that. We arrived at our final destination for the day at Coalville WA. Chris and I just hung around the hotel until John got back from his appt. After the appointment we loaded into the car and took off to Moscow, Chris' most memorable childhood neighborhood. He was so excited to go back and see where he and his brother ruled the roads on their bicycles. He hadn't been back there for almost 20 years. Chris and I spent all of Thursday checking out the city of Moscow, a population of 20,000 people. Even though Chris has never driven a car in Moscow, he knew the roads really well. I was quite impressed. He showed me where his old house used to be, and told the stories that went along with the house. He has so really good memories there. We picked John up after his seminars and headed to Pullman WA (7 miles away from Moscow) to meet up with the missionaries. John's girlfriend (soon to Fiance', hopefully) son is serving up there in Colfax WA until June, and so he wanted to take him to dinner. (This is not the first time he has met him, John met him last year too) So we had a great time meeting our possible new brother in law. He is a great guy and he is working really hard. After dinner with the missionaries we headed back to Moscow. Friday we checked out the campus, job opportunities and housing. To mom's delight I am sure, Chris and I decided that U of I is our last resort. It doesn't offer much in the job market and it is too far from both families. It didn't take long to gather the info we needed for the school, so Chris and I took off to see the surrounding area. We drove to Lewiston, boy does that city stink. I guess they have a paper factory that just makes the whole city smell. After Lewiston we headed on a little winding road that ended up at Kamiah. It is a cute, quaint town. There they had a lot of info on the local Indian tribe's folk stories. It was fun to see the way they would teach their children with stories. Each story has a moral and a purpose. It was great stuff. Friday night we went to dinner with John's law group. While waiting in line for food, I met the Supreme Judge of Idaho. He made small chit chat and we both headed our separate ways as soon as our plates were full. I made my way to my chair and Chris leaned over and said that he would switch seats with my new boyfriend the judge. I thought it was pretty funny that Chris noticed that I was being talked to by another man. Saturday we stayed around Moscow, we visited the local museum of the Appaloosa Horse. They had some great info on the Shoshone tribe and how they are responsible for that breed of horse. It was so much fun to spend some needed time with my hubby, while being able to be productive about school. We came home Saturday late afternoon. On our way back, we hit more snow. I am so sick of the snow, and being in Moscow gave me a taste of spring. I should not tease myself like that. It is just plain cruel... Oh by the end of the trip Chris and I travel about 1500 miles in just 4 days. I hate cars at the moment. Too many hours in one.
