So Sad

There are many great pro's about living on a farm, but there are also some con's. Last night Chris and I were asked to feed the cattle while John was out of town. While we were feeding, we noticed that then new calf that was born just the day before was not doing well.
So Chris and I tried to intervene and give this poor little thing a fighting chance. We spent a couple of hours trying to get a milk replacer down her, but after all that time she still only drank about a pint, which was not nearly enough. We left her about 10 pm last night and prayed that she would make it through the night. This morning after I fed the horses, I jump the corrals and went to check on the calf. When I arrived I found that she had passed sometime during the night. It is so sad to see how fragile life is. This poor little calf really didn't have a chance.
