Thursday was our travel day to Washington DC. We arrived at Ronald Reagan International and began our whirlwind tour of Washington DC. Our first stop was the Pentagon and it's 9/11 Memorial. The memorial was a very reverent place. It was a reminder to me that terrorism doesn't know age. Following the Pentagon was our visit to Arlington Cemetery. There we were privileged to witness the amazing ceremony of the Changing of the Guard. It was very precise and a perfect way to honor those men that have fallen for me and my chance to be free person. When you walked into the cemetery, you know it is a very special place. The reverence was incredible. Our next stop was dinner. We ate a wonderful southern meal at Georgia Browns. I had crab cake stuffed flounder and bacon wrapped stuffed date. It was incredible. Chris at fried chicken with what he says was the best mashed potatoes. So obviously it was an incredible first meal to eat in DC. After dinner we wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument at night. So we grabbed a taxi and headed over there. We spent time reading the murals on the wall of the memorial. It is amazing to know what kind of great men lead this country. As we are about to catch a cab to head back to the metro, we see a black car and SUV pull up. Out of the car appears Glenn Beck. Excited of knowing that Glenn Beck was there, we headed back to the Memorial. Glenn Beck then said a few words about the 8/28 rally and went over his set for Saturday's rally. Chris and I headed back to where we were when we saw him exit the cars. This is when Glenn walked up to Chris and shook his had and then mine. Chris expressed to him that, we are very proud of what he is doing for our faith and for our country. It was incredible meeting him and we felt bad because John (Chris's dad is a huge fan and the reason we were there for the rally.) missed meeting Glenn by just a few minutes. We finally ended our day at Chris's cousin's home in Silver Springs MD. She invited us stay with her and her beautiful little family. Heather and Colby were incredible. It was the first time I had met them, but I feel like we will be really good friends, because we hit it off really well.
